An online rumour from scooper @bluemintues on X indicates that recent reshoots for *Avengers: Doomsday* have led to the inclusion of several prominent Marvel heroes. According to GeekTyrant, these new additions reportedly include Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, and Sue Storm.
Further to these hero additions, the rumour also points to a mysterious sequence involving “legendary Marvel heroes” which could be presented from a unique point-of-view (POV). This approach might keep the identities of these heroes hidden while allowing audiences to experience the moment from their perspective, potentially making for a “mind-bending” cameo.
The upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday* film is generating significant buzz, particularly concerning the character of Doctor Doom. Rumours suggest that Doom will be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) most dangerous villains to date. Insider MyTimeToShineHello claimed, as reported by Yahoo, that Doom will be responsible for “numerous deaths” in the film, escalating the scale of threat for the Avengers.
Marvel Studios has confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will return to the franchise to play Victor von Doom, rather than reprising his role as Tony Stark or Iron Man. Earlier speculation from insider James Mack also suggested that Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes will confront Doom together in the movie’s final battle, a confrontation that could have severe consequences for Bucky.
The film will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Stephen McFeely writing the screenplay. The cast features several major MCU stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, Paul Rudd, and Florence Pugh, alongside actors from the X-Men franchise.
A prominent theory suggests that a moment from the *Avengers: Doomsday* trailer may have revealed the movie’s twist ending: an Incursion where different realities collapse into one. The theory, detailed by The Direct, focuses on a scene featuring Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm holding his nephew Franklin Richards amidst a “wall of white-yellow light.” This light is theorised not to be an ordinary explosion, but rather a visual representation of an Incursion, a major event from the comics.
If this theory proves correct, it could mean that Earth-616 (the Avengers’ Sacred Timeline), Earth-828 (the Fantastic Four’s reality), and Earth-10005 (the X-Men’s reality) all collide simultaneously. This collision would be on a scale that “dwarf[s] the Snap” from *Avengers: Infinity War*, resulting in entire realities being forced into one, rather than half of existence being quietly erased.
The comic book blueprint, particularly Jonathan Hickman’s 2015 *Secret Wars*, depicted Incursions destroying universes until Earth-616 and Ultimate Earth-1610 collided. In that narrative, Doctor Doom, having acquired power from the Beyonder, salvaged fragments of dying worlds to create Battleworld, which he ruled as God Emperor Doom.
While reshoots are reportedly taking place and the ending could still be adjusted, the cinematic adaptation might see Doom fusing three realities into a single composite Earth, with its inhabitants memory-wiped and Doom ruling from Latveria as an outwardly “benevolent” God Emperor. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have described *Avengers: Secret Wars* as “a new beginning,” indicating the sequel may focus on living through the Incursion rather than reversing it.
*Avengers: Doomsday* is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, with its story expected to continue in *Avengers: Secret Wars*, set for December 17, 2027. The fallout from these events is anticipated to lead into a final MCU timeline, which will be explored in three 2028 MCU films: *X-Men*, *Ghost Rider*, and *Black Panther 3*.
